Overview

R&P is seeking a Naval Corrosion Assessor in support of the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center. This position will provide support to Code 200 engineering and design staff in a variety of corrosion assessment tasks in shipboard tanks and voids in accordance with engineering specifications. The position is located in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Document the condition of the tank/voids in accordance with G1N5 or G1N6 MRC and CCAMM.
  • Document all discrepancies in tanks and ship’s structure by photographing with government equipment in accordance with command photographic and security requirements.
  • Enter assessment results in CADET and internal SWRMC Department tracking spreadsheets/matrices.
  • Generate required AWR/2-Kilos in CADET.
  • Upload photographs into CCIMS using the CCIMS upload utility.
  • Provide SURFMEPP, Maintenance Team, and SWRMC Naval Architecture Department photographs and discrepancy reports of spaces and tanks.
  • Provide written assessment reports with required supporting documents/recommendations per Branch report format mandated by JFMM.
  • Provide engineering solutions with respect to corrosion, coating, and structural coating issues in accordance with CCAMM in condition found by way of ESR or NMD.
  • Provide engineering adjudication with respect to corrosion, coating, and structural coating issues in accordance with CCAMM in condition found by way of DFS to SWRMC LTA, CHENG, and NAVSEA TWH. Report shipboard non-conformances regardless of origin. Provide objective evidences per CCAMM or supporting documents as OQE to SWRMC CHENG or NAVSEA TWH as mandated for risk mitigation.

Qualifications

  • At least seven years technical experience with maintenance of shipboard systems or similar and/or Corrosion Assessments/Inspections
  • NACE S-CAT level 1 certification
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Candidate must conduct their own gas free and maintain their own gas free certifications through the performance period.
  • PCMS experience desired
  • DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • US Citizen
