Overview

R&P is looking for a motivated individual who wants to join our team supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Philadelphia Division in Philadelphia, PA. We are a small-sized defense contractor providing Engineering, Logistics, Program Management and Technical Services to government clients. We need a Systems Engineer IV ready to join a fast-paced and exciting work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and install hardware and software in support of shipboard machinery and steering control systems for U.S. Navy ships.
  • Assist with requirements definition and development.
  • Develop test procedures and test plans, and support test execution.
  • Assist with integration of other subsystems and equipment into machinery control systems platform.
  • Develop training support for installed shipboard control systems equipment.
  • Investigate problems associated with programmable logic controllers (PLC), instrumentation, and remote I/O and associated electrical components in support of shipboard control systems.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings in support of troubleshooting, wiring and testing.
  • Coordinate and conduct tests for shipboard systems.
  • Identify and solve problems related to ship systems design and equipment installations and develop field modification/ship alteration requests as required.
  • Prepare technical documentation such as reports, procedures and test plans in support of installation or field investigation efforts.
  • Must be able to travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited program.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience within industry as a Systems, Electrical and/or Electronics Engineer.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience within industry acting as a Lead Engineer.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience troubleshooting hardware and software systems.
  • One (1) year of professional experience reading electrical schematics.
  • One (1) year of professional experience troubleshooting network based systems.
  • Must be able to obtain required Information Assurance (IA) certifications within one year of employment.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • SECRET security clearance is required.
