  • Overview

    R&P Is actively seeking an experienced Marine Electrician/Technician to fill a full-time position undertaking a variety of tasks relating to installing, repairing and troubleshooting electrical and electronic equipment onboard US Navy ships in Jacksonville , FL. This position will involve installing electrical cabling, building various electrical connectors, installing hardware and troubleshooting malfunctions in electrical and electronic systems.

    Responsibilities

    • Execute plans of electrical installations for many different electrical and electronic systems such as lighting, announcing, 115V/440V electrical plant equipment, Uninterrupted Power Supply equipment, Audio/Video equipment, Antenna systems and many others
    • Install electrical cabinets, fixtures and equipment for various electrical systems
    • Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.)
    • Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks using various MIL-SPEC connectors
    • Pull in cables of various lengths and sizes to accommodate system connections
    • Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair/replace damaged equipment
    • Run shipboard availabilities supervising a small crew.

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience as an Electrician/Technician
    • Experience in marine electrical systems
    • Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.)
    • Demonstrate ability to build MIL-SPEC connectors of various types and sizes using both soldering and crimping techniques
    • Ability to read and understand electrical and installation drawings and blueprints
    • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
    • Excellent physical condition with the ability to lift 50 pounds on your own
    • Must be able to work in confined spaces
    • Willingness to travel to various locations in support of ship maintenance availabilities
    • Flexibility with regards to scheduling and planned support due to constant Navy movement
    • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines
    • Ability to obtain and maintain Navy DBIDS security credentials
    • Littoral Combat Ship experience, preferred
    • Previous supervisor experience, preferred.
