  • Overview

    R&P is looking for motivated individuals who want to join our team supporting repair and alterations in U.S. Navy ships in San Diego, CA.  We are a small-sized defense contractor providing Engineering, Logistics, Program Management and Technical Services to government clients.  We need accuracy control technicians with metrology experience to utilize 3D Tracker/Mapping equipment and 3D model-based software to map alignment critical locations onboard the ships, and to transfer benchmarks and reference lines from interior to exterior of the Ship's superstructure.  The ideal candidate will possess shipbuilding accuracy control/metrology skills but willing to be trained on 3D laser tracking/mapping equipment and software.  You will be working in a fast-paced industrial environment supporting shipboard repair and alterations. 

    Responsibilities

    • Upon hiring, candidates will undergo 3D laser tracker/mapping equipment and software training.
    • Candidates will develop proficiency in the use of 3D laser tracker equipment and software and will use this equipment and software to map alignment critical locations onboard the ship and transfer benchmarks and reference lines from interior to exterior of the Ship's superstructure.
    • Processing of the measurement survey data using 3D modeling capability insuring that alignment criticality is accomplished in accordance with reqirements.
    • Upon successful completion of the training and demonstrated proficiency, candidates will support small composite installation teams executing repairs and alterations to the composite superstructure of the DDG 1001.
    • Adhere to all shipyard and shipboard safety standards/rquirements and safety precautions associated with composite material.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 1 year technically related experience.
    • Previous shipbuilding or manufacturing metrology/accuracy control experience preferred.
    • CAD/CAM experience required.
    • Able to read and interpret ship's drawings, specifications, scope of work and other technical documentation.
    • Strong PC skills
    • Must be physically able to work in an industrial, shipyard and shipboard environment.
    • Must be able to climb ladders, work in confined spaces and be able to lift 50 pounds.
    • Must be able to work at heights on scaffolding.
    • Willingness to work overtime to support peak schedule demands.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain Navy DBIDS security credentials.
